Airtel bags two awards at Nigerian Telecoms Awards Of Excellence


Telecommunications services provider, Airtel Nigeria, yesterday won two major awards at the Nigerian Telecoms Awards. The telecoms operator beats its competitors to emerge the Customer Service Operator Telecom Company of the Year while the company’s Chief Executive, Mr Segun Ogunsanya won the Telecoms CEO of the Year awards. 

Airtel, which is owned by Bharti, an Indian integrated telecommunications company with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa, started in Nigeria as Econet in 2001. It has transited through four companies, Vodacom, V Mobile, Celtel and Zain, before ending up with the Indian Bharti. Bharti-Airtel took over in November 2010.
