Former Man United, Arsenal and Liverpool stars available on a free transfer

THE transfer window may have shut but clubs can still snap up players on a free transfer. Express Sport looks at five free agents that would be worth a punt in the Premier League.

Dimitar Berbatov

Currently without a club after leaving Greek side PAOK FC, Dimitar Berbatov is there for the taking.
The 35-year-old starred for Tottenham, Manchester United and Fulham earlier in his career and was once regarded as one of the classiest strikers in world football.
His wage demands are unlikely to have deterred with time but Berbatov's ruthless touch in front of goal could appeal to one of the teams that will be staving off relegation at the end of the season.

Emmanuel Adebayor

Emmanuel Adebayor was released by Crystal Palace last season after struggling to impress in Alan Pardew's side.
But the former Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester City striker has scored goals galore throughout his career - regardless of the controversy he seems to attract off the field.
Fulham were linked with a shock move for the Togo international but, at the age of 32, there still remains enough petrol in the tank for one last crack at life in the top flight.

Martin Caceres

After spells with Juventus, Sevilla and Barcelona, it seems crazy that Martin Caceres is available on a free transfer.
Trouble outside of football - he was suspended and fined for a car crash last September - has deterred possible suitors but Caceres' experience and ability would benefit several Premier League teams.
The 29-year-old was linked with a move to Napoli and could still do a job for a top team across Europe.

Raul Mereiles

Football's coolest hipster Raul Mereiles would be worth signing for his trendy image alone.
The midfielder was released by Fenerbahce at the end of last season and has previously played in the Premier League for big guns Chelsea and Liverpool.
The 33-year-old is reaching the end of his career but, as the likes of Didier Drogba and Henrik Larsson have proved in the past, age can be misleading.
Who wouldn't want the World Cup's top scorer?

Miroslav Klose

How great would it be to see Miroslav Klose in the Premier League?
Klose is the highest scorer in World Cup history with 16 goals to his name but it still didn't stop Lazio from releasing him at the end of last season.
His predatory instincts helped Germany win the World Cup two years ago and his magic touch in front of goal would make him an attractive short-term option.
