Two market women have died and 17 injured in a collapsed wall of Urua (market) Ederebo in Ikot Akpatek in Onna Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, hometown of the state governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel.
An eyewitness, Mr. Edet Jack, said on Monday that the injured victims of the collapsed market wall were moved to Immanuel General Hospital, Eket for medical attention, while the two women that died had been removed from the area.
He added that some victims who were thought to have also died in the incident, were revived on arrival at the hospital.

Our correspondent learnt that some sections of the 60 years old market was renovated three years ago by government.
The Commsissioner for Works, Mr. Ephraim Inyangeyen, who led an emergency rescue team to the scene of the incident denied that no life was lost during the incident, he therefore charged people to stop spreading sensational news reports that are not verifiable.
Although the casualties and injured were immediately removed by Inyangeyen, an eyewitness strongly opposed denial by the commissioner that no life was lost in the incident.
“I do not understand what government hopes to gain by playing down or denying figures of victims of disaster in the state. Last week, the government was busy lying to defend a church whose building collapsed and killed over 100 people due to very glaring technical error.
“Now again, the government team arrived as soon as the incident occured, and instead of going to Immanuel General Hospital to ascertain if the weak facility can handle the situation, the commissioner turned himself into a journalist to throw intimidating questions at the timid villagers to cover up the situation,” the eyewitness said.

UNIUYO Student Crushed To Death By Truck

On 6th December At about 9:15am a female student lost her life in ghastly Motor accident right in front of University of Uyo, Main Campus gate.
Sources reveal that while she was trying to board a keke inside the school, a trailer lost control of the vehicle while trying to avoid a fire service vehicle, ran into the innocent girl who died at the spot.

Indeed it was a black Saturday in the city of uyo, Akwa Ibom state, Nigeria.  The turn up of events on this Saturday has actually left every one speechless. A concerned citizen said, “I don’t understand this world again”..
The state was still trying to recover from the collosal loss of so many church members that were caught in the collapsed building of Reigners church, in the heart of uyo Akwa ibom. While another news was also received that the vehicle of a Well renowned transport Company in the state(AKTC) caught up with fire between calabar-itu. 
From information that got to us, it was reported that no life was loss as all passengers were able to alight from the vehicle, before the fire ravages the entire bus.

A church building has collapsed in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, with many feared dead.
The Reigners Bible Church, located along Uyo Village Road, was filled to capacity because its pastor was being consecrated as a Bishop, when the tragedy occurred, witnesses said.
“Pastor Akan Week was being consecrated today so the programme was holding inside the Church when suddenly, the whole building collapsed,” one witness said.
The witness said the Church was being renovated and upgraded because of the expected high number of guests on Saturday.
“Many people are buried under the debris as emergency workers continue rescue exercise,” he said.
Governor Udom Emmanuel was expected to attend the occasion, but, sources said he was not at the church when it collapsed.
“The governor has gone to the scene and is presently there helping with the rescue,” a witness said.
Our sources said many victims have been taken to various hospitals and mortuaries in the town.
